The Box -Â A small patch of reef situated on the headland at the mouth of the Margaret River is one of the biggest drawcards to the southwest WA region for surfers. One of my favourite waves to shoot as either from the channel or in the impact zone it is a wave built for high octane visual action, for this reason it is also the most photographed wave in Western Australia.

A favourite with local Bodyboarders and the toughest of surfers the wave comes out of shallow water before it hits a shallow rockshelf and throws out. While the ride is only 50 metres at most its still one of the most intense and challenging waves Western Australia has to offer.

Ok so if youve been checking this site you’ve most probably noticed the lack of recent updates in the past 2 months. Summertime in WA is generally a poor time for waves but this summer we have been particuarly lucky with some nice west swells and favourable winds.

Â So the fact is i have been shooting quite regularly actually but basically ive chosen to keep stuff off the internet for the moment due to the fact that most of the sessions ive shot lately ive got something thats a chance for a run in a magazine or potential sale toÂ a sponsor.So rather than spoil to the chance of getting photos run by posting other mediocre photos from the session i’ve decided to wait till i get a definate no/yes answer on the images. Which when happens i can show you guys the premium stuff you’ve been waiting for.

In the mean time check out these photos from the Sunday morning down at Wedge. While the waves were average to say the least theres a couple photos of Australias best young bodyboarding groms 13 year old Thorpe Waluew and 16 year old Alex Halsey.

Headed to a fun beach in the Margs region last week with Mike Honeybone, while the waves were pretty dismal and the wind was semi-onshore we still managed to have a little bit of fun in the shorepound.

Return of the Full King - Movement Issue 26- Bang

Back in August i was in Sumatra for a surfing holiday, on the first night as we were driving in we saw this massive dark shape and a set of lights on the shore line. The next morning we ventured back to check it out, turned out to be a massive container ship that had run aground on the reef only days earlier. With no major damage to the hull crew were still on board carrying out their duties waiting for a salvage team from China to come down.

We saw this as an amazing photo oppurtunity as there was a small reef wedge breaking off the keel of the boat. Shot some images from land to begin with but paddled out about halfway through the session to shoot some water photos. Was the most surreal experience swimming around next to this massive container ship, definately a once in a lifetime oppurtunity and something we wont forget anytime soon.

Rottnest Bombie 26-10-08

Headed over to Rottnest yesterday morning on Adam Luehmans boat. With the wind being a little stronger than predicted waves didnt get as good as we thought they would be. The lumpiness in the swell made it hard for the guys to tow into the wave properly. There was still some size around though and between driving the boat and dodging lumps i managed to snap off a couple photos. Alex Halsey, Adam Luehman and Brendon Backshall in this post.

Mandurah Wedge 13-10-08

Got up early a couple weeks ago and headed down to Mandurah hoping to score the wedge on. Turned out to be pretty good so i got in the water first thing and tried a new angle i’ve been wanting to shoot, was a bit hit and miss and a little bit of hard work when the bigger sets came but has some potential and definately something i will try again. Also shot some photos from land after getting out of the water. Riders include Brendon Backshall, Ben Player, Tom Smith, Kim Feast,Â Josh GarnerÂ and Mike Honeybone.Â

Sumatran Photos 1st set

Hey all

Just returned from a couple weeks in Sumatra and a week in Bali. While it wasnt pumping waves everyday we still had our fair share and surfed every day, even managed a surf next to a 200 foot container ship that had run aground on a Sumatran reef. While i cant post those photos i can post some from the waves we got in the first few days and some of the surrounding scenery. Will post more photos from later in the first week and the whole second week in a few days time, till then.Â

Perth - Jakarta

So this is Jakarta, its hot, muggy, crowded, big and convoluted but still pretty fun to explore. Just nearing the end of our first day here, off to Sumatra tomorrow where we should get waves for the next few days.Â
